FR “ Avec son nouvel album "Room", l'artiste, que l'on sait rompu aux arrangements folk, troque ici sa guitare contre un piano droit et des synthétiseurs, qui lui permettent de conférer à l'ensemble des ambiances oscillant entre le rock psyché et la dream pop. Ce tournant délibéré est porté à la fois par l'envie d'explorer les possibilités offertes par des instruments qui lui sont moins familiers et par une volonté d'épurer son écriture.
Incisif et efficace, le résultat confirme l'importance du travail requis pour parvenir à une chanson simple en apparence. Découpés, manipulés, bousculés, les morceaux sont au cœur d'un processus artisanal auquel ont contribué Yann Arnaud, Yannick Lemoine et Olivier Marguerit : émaillés de couches de synthétiseurs vintage, de boîtes à rythmes et de saxophone, ils incarnent un projet désireux de réconcilier les contraires, misant sur une production à la fois soignée et sauvage, moderne et hors du temps, organique et synthétique.

This change is carried by the desire to explore the possibilities offered by instruments that he doesn't know well. And the result is effective! What seems to be a simple song is actually quite complex: written and partially recorded at home by Thomas Medard, the titles of "Room" have been reworked between Belgium and Paris for more than a year. Yann Arnaud, Yannick Lemoine and Olivier Marguerit also contributed to finalize this album: they embody a project eager to reconcile the opposites, betting on a production that is both neat and wild, modern and timeless, organic and synthetic. Room is the most personal album Thomas Medard has ever written.
